Al Roker has defended people who rely on medication or surgery to shed weight - after Kelly Clarkson admitted she used weight-loss drugs to drop a whopping 60 pounds.
Al, who underwent gastric bypass surgery in 2002 to lose 100 pounds, said there is 'too much judgment going on when it comes to judging those who have used alternative weight-loss methods.'
'As long as they're working with their doctors and being healthy about it, people ought to just back off and let them live their lives,' the 69-year-old argued during the Today show on Tuesday.
The 42-year-old singer and talk show host admitted she used an unspecified weight-loss drug during a chat with her guest Whoopi Goldberg on Monday's episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show.

Kelly Clarkson, 42, admitted Monday on her talk show to using an Ozempic-like weight-loss drug to slim down rapidly. She is seen in November 2023 (left) and in 2015 (right)
Kelly did not provide the name of her exact treatment but specified that it was not Ozempic - the most visible of a recent class of weight-loss drugs that offer significant results.
'I've lost a lot [of weight] as well,' she said, after Whoopi admitted she used the Type II diabetes drug Mounjaro to shed some pounds.
Kelly explained that although hers wasn't Mounjaro, she ended up using weight-loss drugs at the recommendation of her doctor because her blood work got 'so bad.'
During the interview, the Since U Been Gone singer admitted that she had weighed in at 203 pounds at her heaviest before a doctor's intervention put her on the weight-loss medication.
'My doctor chased me for two years, and I was like, "No, I'm afraid of it. I already have thyroid problems,"' the songstress recalled.
The TV host had previously credited her transformation to a healthy diet and 'walking' more – before admitting on Monday there was more to her transformation.
On March 15, 2022, Roker celebrated the 20th anniversary of his gastric bypass surgery, saying he will 'never forget' how far he has come since losing more than 100 pounds.
He marked the occasion on Instagram by sharing photos of himself with his old jeans to show how he was half the size he was two decades ago.

'Hard to believe it was 20 years ago today, I wore these size 54 Levi jeans to my #gastricbypass at 340 lbs and here I am today,' he wrote in the caption.
'It's still a struggle but I'm never going back,' he added. 'I have setbacks and struggle every day, but I never forget how far I've come.'
Roker has continued to keep the weight off with regular exercise, including power walking, and healthy low-carb meals.
He shared that he had lost about 45 pounds by combining a daily walking routine with a low-carb diet in June 2022.
'Exercise, and not extreme exercise — we're doing that 30-day walking challenge — that improves, I think, your mental health,' he said on the show.
